The Mockingbird was established as the state bird of Florida in 1927, very likely because it was the first to display signs of what would become traits of the Florida Man. Fearing neither hawk nor alligator, these fierce defenders of their personal bubbles will not only fight off the biggest of predators, but they’re also known to remember specific traits of their enemies and will continually target them until they retreat.
They also sing a whole lot of songs and can mimic a bunch of different sounds, but they’re protective nature is badass and needed to be immortalized.
